As President of ESI Consulting, Kim Wyman uses her bipartisan approach and deep experience to collaborate with private organizations, academic institutions, and government officials to improve and professionalize U.S. election administration and advance public understanding of voter engagement and election security.

The company was founded in 2023 by former Washington Secretary of State Kim Wyman, a renowned national expert on our election system, who continues to be the voice of reason on issues of accessibility, security, and mail-in voting.

About Kim Wyman

Experience

Kim Wyman served as Washington’s 15th Secretary of State from 2013 to 2021 and is only the second Republican woman in state history to be elected to statewide office. Kim is currently a Senior Fellow at the Bipartisan Policy Center and President of ESI Consulting, a company specializing in government relations that focus on election administration policy.

Secretary Wyman’s career in elections began as the Thurston County Elections Director, where she successfully pioneered some of the first vote-by-mail elections in the country. She later served as the elected Thurston County Auditor and helped lead the state’s transition to universal mail-in elections.

Respected for her collaborative leadership as an elected Republican for two decades, Kim was appointed by Democratic President Joe Biden to serve as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s Senior Election Security Advisor. She served in that capacity for 19 months before moving to the private sector.

Credentials

A graduate of California State University Long Beach, Wyman earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Troy State University. Since 2004 she has been a Certified Elections Registration Administrator (CERA) by The Elections Center and Auburn University.

Collaborative Leader

Secretary Wyman created the first state Elections Security Operations Center and successfully led the bipartisan development of the statewide VoteWA system. She has collaborated on many national election administration and cybersecurity initiatives including the Electronic Registration and Information Center (ERIC), the Election Performance Index, and the Voting Information Project. 

She is a member of the States United Democracy Center Advisory Board and co-chair of the Aspen Digital AI & Democracy Program Advisory Council. She has received numerous awards and distinctions, including induction into The National Association of Election Officials’ Election Center Hall of Fame in 2022. She co-authored Elections 2020: Controlling Chaos with her husband, John Wyman.
